NEET PG Counselling 2026: Round 1 Closes 21 Oct, Full Schedule

In short

MCC has published a tentative schedule for NEET PG 2026 counselling. Round 1 registration runs 12–21 October, choice filling 13–22 October, and the Round 1 result is due on 24 October. No extension has been reported, so registration still closes on 21 October, with reporting from 26 October to 2 November. Three more rounds follow: Round 2 in November, Round 3 from late November, and an online stray vacancy round in December. Dates are tentative and can move.

Updated 17 October 2026. We could not open MCC’s own site, so this schedule is from Medical Dialogues, Careers360 and CareerIndia reports of the tentative schedule, re-checked against Careers360’s live page (updated 14 October) and MedAdmit (12 October). The Round 1 dates agree across all of them and no extension has been reported. Careers360 and MedAdmit now also give the same later-round windows and joining deadlines as Medical Dialogues. Check mcc.nic.in before each round.

What this counselling covers

  • 50% All India Quota seats and 100% seats in deemed and central universities.
  • For the Armed Forces Medical Services, Round 1 is registration only.
  • State quota seats are not part of this counselling; each state runs its own.

Seats and numbers

NMC’s PG seat matrix for 2026-27 lists 63,177 seats across MD, MS, Diploma, DM and MCh, of which Careers360 and MedAdmit both count 58,468 as available through NEET PG (MD, MS and PG diploma). By state, Karnataka leads with 8,323, then Maharashtra (6,992), Tamil Nadu (6,306) and Uttar Pradesh (6,082). The matrix is subject to revision.

The NEET PG result was declared on 24 September 2026 with qualifying cutoffs of 262 for General/EWS, 244 for General-PwBD and 226 for SC/ST/OBC (including PwBD), out of 800 marks, as Careers360 and MedAdmit both report. These are the 50th, 45th and 40th percentiles. Qualifying only makes you eligible to register; your rank decides the seat.

Fees and deposits

For All India Quota and central university seats, reports give registration fees of ₹1,000 (General) and ₹500 (SC/ST/OBC), and ₹5,000 for deemed universities. For 2026, Careers360 (13 October) and MedAdmit give a refundable security deposit of ₹25,000 (unreserved) or ₹10,000 (reserved) for All India Quota and central university seats, and ₹2,00,000 for deemed universities, the same as last year. Under the 2025 rules free exit applied only in Round 1; check the 2026 bulletin for this year’s exit rules before you lock choices.

What to do this week

  1. Register by 21 October. Registration closes at noon and payment at 3 PM, as reported. Choices can be locked until 22 October.
  2. Download your scorecard and note your rank. Choice filling opens on 13 October.
  3. Read last year’s round-result documents for the branches you want, rather than a portal’s list of “easy” branches.
  4. Check any fee before locking a deemed university. The deposit alone is ₹2,00,000.

If your rank is on the lower side, our NEET PG low-score guide covers deposit rules, past rounds and what is worth listing. For MBBS counselling happening this week, see the MCC stray round dates and the state portals list.
