Rules in DGME’s instructions that can cost you a seat
- Lock your choices. Unlocked choices are not considered for allotment. There is no limit on the number of choices, but fill only colleges you would join.
- DNB state-quota seats are only for UP in-service candidates on the list issued by the Director General, Medical and Health Services on 16 October 2026.
- PMHS weightage for MD/MS state-quota seats applies only to candidates on that 16 October list.
- The security amount is not adjusted against tuition under any circumstances.
- Private college admissions happen at a nodal centre named in the allotment letter; government seats are taken up at the college itself.
- OBC and EWS certificates must be dated 1 April 2026 or later, and reservation certificates must be issued by a UP competent authority in the UP format.
- Missing or wrong originals at admission lead to cancellation and forfeiture of the security deposit; forged documents lead to cancellation and legal action.
How UP Round 1 overlaps with MCC Round 1
MCC’s Round 1 AIQ joining window runs from 26 October to 2 November, as reported by Careers360 and MedAdmit, and the UP Round 1 result is due on 2 November. If you hold an MCC Round 1 seat and are also filling UP choices, read MCC’s rules on resignation and upgrade before you decide what to join. A low-rank candidate weighing branches can use our least competitive clinical branches page and the NEET PG low score options guide.
Private and deemed PG fees vary widely. Our deemed MD/MS fees page shows how high three-year costs can go, so read each private college’s fee notice before you lock it.
What to do in the next 4 days
- Check the state merit list on upneet.gov.in and note your state rank.
- Shortlist branches and colleges you would actually join, with fees checked for all three years.
- Fill and lock choices before 5 PM on 30 October. Do not leave locking for the last hour.
- Keep originals ready: NEET PG scorecard, MBBS documents, registration and UP-format category certificates.
- Check the result on 2 November and plan for admission between 3 and 7 November.
