Registration fee and security deposit

Seat category Registration fee (non-refundable) Security deposit (refundable)
50% AIQ / central universities — General ₹1,000 ₹25,000
50% AIQ / central universities — SC/ST/OBC ₹500 ₹10,000
Deemed universities — all categories ₹5,000 ₹2,00,000

Admittance Edutech reports that Round 1 registrants do not pay again, but a candidate who registered for government seats only and now wants deemed choices pays the difference. Pay from your own bank account: refunds go back to the account that paid. Deemed MD/MS tuition is a separate and much larger bill; see our deemed university MD/MS fees.

Round 2 rules that cost money

As reported by Admittance Edutech (30 October), and subject to MCC’s 2026 information bulletin:

  • No free exit in Round 2. If you are allotted a seat in Round 2 and do not join, the security deposit is forfeited.
  • An upgrade cancels your Round 1 seat. If you joined in Round 1 with upgrade willingness and get a better choice, the old seat goes. Fill only choices you prefer to the seat you hold.
  • Round 1 choices do not carry over. Fresh choice filling is needed.
  • Clear and virtual vacancies both count. Seats held by upgrade-seekers can open up during the same round, so include them.

If your rank is low

Round 2 adds seats freed by Round 1 exits and upgrades, and DNB and deemed seats often move more than government MD/MS seats. Our guides on least competitive clinical branches and low-score NEET PG options show where to look. State quota rounds run on their own dates: UP’s Round 1 result is due on 2 November, as reported by Careers360 (UP NEET PG Round 1).

What to do in the next 10 days

  1. If you hold a Round 1 seat, report by 2 November and decide whether to tick upgrade willingness.
  2. On 6 November, download the Round 2 seat matrix from mcc.nic.in.
  3. New registrants: register by 12 noon, 11 November and pay by 3 PM.
  4. Fill fresh choices and lock by 10 AM, 12 November, keeping only seats you would actually join.
  5. Check the result on 14 November and join between 16 and 23 November.
