Two different medical colleges are searched for as “Sido Kanhu Medical College, Dumka”, and mixing them up is expensive. Dumka Medical College (Dighi, Dumka; also written Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital) is a government college with 100 MBBS seats in NMC’s 2026-27 matrix. Sido Kanhu Medical College & Hospital (Ranishwar, Dumka) is a new private, trust-run college with 150 seats in the same matrix. Their fees, quotas and cutoffs are not comparable.
Correction, 19 September 2026. An earlier version of this page said that no college called Sido Kanhu Medical College exists, and quoted a fee, a closing rank and a quota statement for the government college that we cannot trace to an official source. The first claim was wrong: the college exists and is in NMC’s 2026-27 matrix. The unsourced figures have been removed, and the private college now has its own guide.

Why the difference matters to your wallet
A government fee and a private management-quota fee can differ by tens of lakhs across the course. The risk is not only confusion: an agent who quotes the government college’s fee while placing you in the private one, or the reverse, is describing a seat that does not exist at that price. Seats in either college are allotted through counselling; if you cannot see the allotment against your roll number on the portal, do not pay.
What NEET score does each need?
Government seats close at ranks far above the private range, and we do not publish a closing rank for Dumka Medical College because we could not confirm one from MCC or JCECEB data.
