In short
Maharashtra’s State CET Cell is running three online stray vacancy rounds for NEET UG 2026 MBBS and BDS seats. Round 1 choice filling is 17–18 October, until 11:59 PM, the selection list is due on 19 October, and joining is 20–21 October by 5:30 PM. Rounds 2 and 3 follow on 21–25 October, and the final joining date is 26 October. There is no new registration: only candidates already registered who got no seat up to CAP Round 3 can take part, and fresh choices are needed each round.
Updated 17 October 2026. The schedule is from the CET Cell’s Notice No. 27, as reported by Careers360 (17 October, 8:50 AM) and FreeJobAlert (17 October, 10:08 AM); the two agree on every date. Round 3 figures are from Careers360 (11 October) and Round 2 figures from Careers360 (23 September). We could not open medical2026.mahacet.org or the stray seat matrix PDF, so the number of seats in the stray rounds is not given here. Check the CET Cell portal before you pay.

The last date to resign a seat without penalty is 21 October, 5:30 PM, as reported. Every window after Round 1 is about a day long, so keep documents and the demand draft ready before each list comes out.
Who can take part
Careers360’s report of the notice says you must have qualified NEET UG 2026, registered and filled preferences earlier, not been allotted a seat up to CAP Round 3, and meet Clause 4 of the brochure. A candidate allotted a seat in the first stray round cannot take part in the later stray rounds. Earlier preferences do not carry over, so you must fill fresh choices in each round.
If you are also in the MCC stray round, MCC’s result is due on 19 October as well, and MCC’s reporting runs 19–26 October. Read both rule sets before joining either seat: our MCC stray round page has the national dates and the stray round eligibility guide explains how the two interact.
How many seats might be left
Careers360 reports that CAP Round 3 admitted 11,340 of 11,431 state-quota MBBS and BDS seats. On that table only 3 MBBS seats (all in private universities) and 88 BDS seats were vacant. After Round 2, the gap had been much wider: 1,931 seats (949 MBBS, 982 BDS).
| After CAP Round 3 | Seats | Admitted | Vacant |
|---|---|---|---|
| MBBS (70 colleges) | 8,814 | 8,811 | 3 |
| BDS (29 colleges) | 2,617 | 2,529 | 88 |
| Total | 11,431 | 11,340 | 91 |
The stray matrix dated 16 October is a provisional, college-wise and category-wise list, as FreeJobAlert describes it. It can include seats freed by candidates who did not join or who resigned, so it may differ from the Round 3 count. Open the matrix on the CET Cell portal before you fill a single choice. For MBBS, expect very few seats; BDS has more room.
For a sense of scale, the Round 3 closing marks in Careers360’s table were 534 (AIR 51,356) for government MBBS in the open category and 218 (AIR 9,68,598) for private MBBS in the open category. These are single closing points, not a promise for the stray round.
Fees and payment
Neither report gives fee amounts. Both say admission fees are paid by demand draft or NEFT/RTGS as the notice directs, with original documents at the college. Private and deemed fees in Maharashtra are high, so check the full five-and-a-half-year cost first; our hidden costs guide lists what a fee sheet leaves out.

- Fill fresh choices by 11:59 PM on 18 October. Old choices do not count.
- Check the list on 19 October and decide by 21 October, 5:30 PM, the last penalty-free resignation time.
- Verify before you pay with our college checklist, and pay only through the official process.
