In short

For NEET-UG 2026, the qualifying cutoff published with the result is 213 marks for General and EWS candidates (50th percentile) and 177 marks for OBC, SC and ST candidates (40th percentile); General candidates with benchmark disabilities need 194 (45th percentile). In 2025 the equivalent marks were 144 and 113. That is a jump of about 70 marks, so any guide that says 150 marks “is enough to qualify” describes an earlier year.

What happened this year

NEET-UG 2026 was re-conducted on 21 June 2026 (reports say the original exam was cancelled), and NTA declared the result on 16 July 2026. Close to 20 lakh candidates appeared and 11.21 lakh qualified; 19 candidates scored above 700 and the top score was 715. The percentile that decides who qualifies did not change — half the appearing candidates for General, 40% for OBC/SC/ST — but the marks those percentiles fall at did, because the paper and the pool of candidates were different.

What it means if you scored in the 150–200 range

  • Below 177: you have not qualified in any category this year. No college, at any fee, can admit you.
  • 177 to 212: you have qualified only if you are OBC, SC or ST (and General-PwD from 194). General and EWS candidates in this band have not qualified.
  • 213 and above: you have qualified in every category. Qualifying is only the legal floor; admission depends on your rank in each round of counselling.

Our directory’s cutoff ranges for individual colleges were compiled from earlier counselling cycles, when the marks scale was lower. Where a listed floor is below the qualifying score for your category, the qualifying score is the real minimum. We are re-basing the ranges on 2026 round data as counselling authorities publish it.

Qualifying is not the same as getting a seat

The qualifying cutoff only makes you eligible to take part in counselling. Government seats close at ranks far above it: MCC’s Round 1 and Round 2 allotment lists for 2026 are published on mcc.nic.in and show ranks, not marks. State counselling bodies such as Karnataka’s KEA publish their own round-wise results — see our list of state counselling portals. For private and deemed seats, see the minimum marks guide.
