The management quota is the share of a private medical college’s seats — typically 50% in state private colleges, effectively 100% in deemed universities — that the college fills at its own, higher fee rather than the state-regulated one. Those seats are still allotted through the same centralised online counselling, on NEET merit. Because the fee is higher, demand is thinner and the cutoff is lower. That is the entire mechanism. There is no offline management-quota admission, and a NEET qualification is mandatory.
What it is, precisely
In a state-private college, seats are split between a state quota at the fee committee’s regulated rate, and a management quota at a rate the college sets. In closed states such as Rajasthan and Karnataka the state quota is domicile-only and the management quota is where a candidate from another state applies. In deemed universities the distinction collapses — every seat is effectively management-fee and allotted through MCC.
The candidate registers on the same portal, fills the same choice list, and selects the management quota category. Allotment is by NEET rank within that category. The fee is paid to the college against the allotment letter.
Why the cutoff is lower
Not because the standard is lower. A management seat at ₹24–28 Lakhs a year draws fewer applicants than a state seat at ₹10–12 Lakhs at the same college, so the queue is shorter and the last seat goes to a lower rank. The degree, the college and the hospital are identical.

What management quota is not
It is not a seat you buy from the college. It is not available without NEET. It is not processed by an agent outside the portal. Every one of those is a description of a capitation-fee admission, which is illegal under National Medical Commission rules and produces a seat that can be cancelled after payment. The tell is simple: a genuine management-quota allotment appears on the counselling portal under your own login. A payment that does not produce that entry has bought nothing.
