MBBS Colleges with 150 to 200 Marks in NEET (2026 List)

In short

Read this first: for NEET-UG 2026 the minimum qualifying score is 213 for General and EWS candidates and 177 for OBC, SC and ST, so a score of 150–200 has qualified no one in the General category and only OBC/SC/ST candidates at 177 or above. In earlier cycles, when the General cutoff sat near 144, this band did reach MBBS seats through MCC deemed university counselling and open-state private counselling in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana — the colleges below are the ones that have admitted in it. It never reached a government seat, and no amount of money changes that.

Which colleges are actually in range at 150–200 marks?

These are the colleges whose lowest historical admission cutoff sits at or below 200 marks. A floor at the bottom of this band generally becomes reachable only in the final rounds.

Cutoffs are expected closing ranges for the 2026 cycle, compiled from previous rounds — not guarantees. Fees are the advertised annual tuition and change by notification. Verify both on the official counselling portal before locking your choices.

Which route should you take at this score?

Deemed universities are the more reliable route. Every seat is allotted on all-India merit through MCC with no domicile requirement, and because the fees are high — roughly ₹18–26 Lakhs a year — demand thins out fast in the later rounds. Colleges in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Maharashtra routinely admit in this band at mop-up.

Open-state private colleges in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are far cheaper, roughly ₹10–13 Lakhs a year, and open to candidates from every state. At 150–200 marks you are near the floor of most of them, which means the later rounds rather than Round 1.

What this actually costs

The difference between the two routes across the full course is not a rounding error. An open-state seat at ₹11 Lakhs a year and a deemed seat at ₹23 Lakhs a year are roughly ₹55 Lakhs apart by graduation, before hostel.

The advertised fee is annual tuition only. This adds the years, the hostel and the deposit.

The mistake that costs this score band most

At 150–200 marks the danger is not aiming too high. It is registering in only one stream, and doing it late.

This band is allotted almost entirely in the later rounds, and the later rounds are open only to candidates already in the system. Every year, candidates who would comfortably have secured a seat at mop-up discover they cannot participate because they did not register in Round 1. A missed deadline closes more doors at this score than a low mark does.

The second mistake is a short choice list. When cutoffs are falling unpredictably round on round, breadth is what converts eligibility into an allotment. Fill every college you would genuinely attend and can genuinely fund — a list of five is five ways to be unallotted.

What to do between now and Round 1

  1. Register for MCC deemed counselling and for at least one open state, Uttar Pradesh or Bihar.
  2. Establish what your family can actually fund across the whole course, not per year — the two routes are roughly ₹50 Lakhs apart.
  3. Read your authority’s security deposit and free-exit rules before you lock a choice list, not after an allotment arrives.
  4. Assemble documents and the first-year demand draft early. Stray vacancy reporting windows run two to three days including travel.

Frequently asked questions

Is 150 marks enough for MBBS in India?

Not in 2026. The NTA minimum this year is 213 for General/EWS and 177 for OBC/SC/ST, so 150 marks has not qualified in any category (in 2025 the General mark was 144, which is why older guides say it was enough). Qualifying is the legal floor; even then a government seat needs roughly 620+ marks.

Which state has the lowest private MBBS cutoff?

Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana consistently have the most accessible open-state private cutoffs, roughly 150–280 marks. Deemed universities in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry close lowest of all, at 130–160 marks in stray vacancy, but at roughly double the tuition.

Can I get a seat at 150 marks in Round 1?

Rarely. Round 1 closes at the top of each college's range. A score at the bottom of a range generally becomes viable at mop-up and stray vacancy, when seats returned by candidates who upgraded are re-released. You must be registered in the earlier rounds to participate in the later ones.
